Vestibular Rehabilitation
The vestibular system is an integral part of a person's ability to maintain balance, gaze stability, and a correct interpretation of his or her body position in relationship to the environment. Patients are often diagnosed with inner ear disorders. Symptoms of vestibular dysfunction may include imbalance, nausea, dizziness, blurry vision, poor depth perception, loss of balance when walking, falling, and disorientation. Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based approach aimed at alleviating these problems. Interventions may include balance retraining, gaze stabilization, motion sensitivity habituation exercises, and general conditioning.
