Fauquier Hospital offers chemotherapy and other infusion services such as fluids for hydration, blood transfusions and IV antibiotics.

Fauquier Health Wound Healing Center

Fauquier Health Wound Healing Center takes an interdisciplinary approach to wound treatment and healing due to the complex nature of chronic wounds. The combined knowledge of many health care disciplines is vital for effective chronic wound care management.

The Center uses a number of specialized wound care therapies to aid in wound closure, new tissue growth, wound tissue regeneration and much more. One of our premier services is hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) may help speed the wound repair process and prevent further complications. It’s increases the amount of oxygen in the blood to saturate damaged tissue with oxygen. Patients who receive HBO inhale 100 percent oxygen at up to three times the normal atmospheric pressure. HBO drives more oxygen into the red blood cells to promote healing from the inside out. Diabetic foot ulcers, which are a common and serious complication of diabetes, are an example of wounds that may benefit from HBO. Hyperbaric oxygen chambers are commonly used to treat:

  • Osteomyelitis (bone infection)
  • Compromised skin grafts and surgical flaps
  • Delayed radiation injury (complication of radiation therapy) including radiation cystitis (bleeding from the bladder), radiation proctitis (inflammation, damage and/or bleeding of colon)
  • Osteoradionecrosis Cardiac Rehabilitation

Fauquier Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a medically prescribed exercise and education program for seniors, and others who have had a heart attack or heart surgery or who have stable angina or other forms of cardiovascular disease. A physician referral is required for cardiac rehab and most insurances cover the program cost.

The key to the cardiac rehab program is professionally supervised exercise. Each patient’s heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure and exercise intensity are carefully monitored during the exercise session by registered nurses or exercise physiologists. Insurance companies typically cover 6 to 12 weeks of rehabilitation. Referring physicians receive progress reports about halfway through the program and at the end of the program.

We also offer group education classes to the patients and their families. We discuss topics such as exercise, nutrition, heart anatomy and physiology, stress management, risk factor management and medications. Patients can also meet one-on-one with our registered dieticians.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation program is located within Fauquier Hospital’s wellness facility, the Wellness Center, located at 419 Holiday Court, Suite 200. For more information please call the staff of the cardiac rehabilitation program at 540-316-2651 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Fauquier Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a medically prescribed exercise and education program for people who have chronic obstructive or restrictive lung diseases, such as COPD, chronic asthma, and pulmonary fibrosis, Your physician must refer you to the pulmonary rehab program. Most insurances will cover the program cost.

The pulmonary rehab program patient will meet one-on-one with a respiratory therapist twice a week. The goals of the program are to:

  • Help the patient control and alleviate symptoms
  • Improve activity tolerance
  • Improve quality of life
  • Promote self reliance and independence
  • Decrease need for acute responses

The pulmonary rehab program consists of monitored exercise sessions and skills training. A primary focus of the program is breathing techniques to help the patient learn how to cope with a chronic lung condition.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is located within the Fauquier Hospital’s wellness facility, the Wellness Center, at 419 Holiday Court, Suite 200, in Warrenton. For more information, please call 540-316-2650 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy

Serving much of Northern Virginia, Fauquier Health offers a variety of rehabilitation services that are tailored to our patient’s specific needs.

Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation services include physical, occupational, and speech and language therapy for all ages. The primary goal is to return patients to an active, healthy lifestyle.

  • Physical therapists (PTs) help people with a range of injury and illness related problems, such as orthopedic conditions, bone and tissue injuries, neurological conditions, workplace injury, and heart and circulatory conditions. PTs can also work with individuals to prevent loss of mobility by developing fitness and wellness programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.
  • Occupational therapists (OTs) assist people in developing the skills they need to function independently in their daily lives with a customized treatment program based on each patient’s goals and abilities. This sometimes includes a home and job site evaluation, performance skills assessments and treatment, adaptive equipment, and training for caregivers.
  • Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work with the full range of human communication disorders in individuals of all ages. They evaluate, diagnose and treat speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders.

Often individuals can benefit from assistance from two or even all three types of therapists. When this happens a unified treatment plan is developed by the therapy team.

Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology (IR) is a subspecialty of radiology, and one of the most exciting and promising fields of the future. By combining the most advanced technology with the fundamentals of patient care, interventional radiologists are able to use image-guided (minimally invasive) procedures to diagnose and/or treat certain conditions.

During an IR procedure, the interventional radiologist uses x-ray, fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT) or ultrasound images to guide small instruments (catheters) through the vascular system or other pathways percutaneously (through the skin). Interventional radiology procedures often replace open surgical procedures, which is a big benefit for our patients. Since there is no large incision, there is usually less risk, less pain and a shorter recovery time.

The Fauquier Health interventional radiology team includes four board-certified radiologists with advanced training in interventional procedures, nurses with critical care/emergency room backgrounds, and x-ray technologists with specialized training in interventional radiology.

Interventional radiology is an important component in many areas of patient care, and the rapidly advancing field continues to offer newer, safer and more comfortable choices for our patients
